Your forehead and eyebrows play a crucial role in framing your face and communicating your emotions. Unfortunately, these areas are often among the earliest to show signs of aging. A heavy, drooping brow can make you appear fatigued, unapproachable and older than your years, as well as creating the impression that you are angry, sad or worried when that is not really how you feel. A brow lift is a popular surgery that elevates and smoothes the region above the eyes to correct sagging, minimize deep wrinkles and achieve a fresh-faced, youthful appearance.

WHAT BENEFITS CAN A BROW LIFT PROVIDE?
Whether you were born with a naturally weighty brow or are bothered by sagging, expression lines and other signs of aging, brow lift surgery may be right for you. The procedure can enhance your appearance by:
Reducing horizontal wrinkles across the forehead, between the eyes or high on the bridge of the nose
Improving vertical frown lines between the eyebrows
Raising the eyebrows to a position that looks more youthful and alert
Repositioning a low or sagging brow that weighs down the upper eyelids
Creating more space to apply makeup on the upper eyelids
Making you look friendlier, happier and more awake
WHAT RESULTS CAN BROW LIFT SURGERY ACHIEVE?
A brow lift rejuvenates the face above the eyes to create a refreshed and younger-looking appearance. After the procedure, patients enjoy numerous positive changes including:
A smoother and more lifted forehead
A more approachable and alert appearance
An expression that no longer looks angry, worried, sad or tired
A reduction in visible lines across the forehead and between the brows
Lighter upper eyelids
Reduced tension in the forehead muscles
Concealed scarring
Improved self-confidence
When performed by an experienced surgeon like Dr. Bazzi, the results of a brow lift can last for years and even decades. A brow lift cannot, however, halt the normal aging process. Your forehead tissues will continue to change with time. You can extend the life of your results by living a positive lifestyle, including daily sunscreen application, a healthy diet, sufficient hydration and avoiding tobacco.
WHAT HAPPENS DURING BROW LIFT SURGERY?
A brow lift procedure may be performed using one of several techniques. Which technique is used will depend on a combination of factors, including your facial features, your aesthetic concerns, your desired outcomes and the preferences of your surgeon. The basic brow lift techniques are a coronal brow lift and an endoscopic brow lift.
During a coronal brow lift, anesthesia is administered and an incision is made from ear to ear. The incision is placed so that it is concealed as much as possible within the hair or the natural contours of the face. The skin of the forehead is then separated from the underlying tissues, which are repositioned or removed to create a smoother and more youthful appearance. To complete the procedure, excess skin is eliminated and the forehead is lifted into its new position. This technique allows for specific areas of the brow to be pinpointed for correction but requires an extended recovery time due to the size of the incision.
During an endoscopic brow lift, anesthesia is administered and a video instrument called an endoscope is inserted through small incisions at the hairline. The endoscope allows the surgeon to visualize the internal structures of the forehead in order to reposition and remove the tissues as needed. This technique is less invasive and typically requires a shorter recovery, but can often achieve an equally desirable result.
The objective of any brow lift procedure is to minimize visible scarring and achieve the best, most natural-looking results. Dr. Bazzi will recommend a technique after a physical assessment and a discussion of your goals during your initial consultation.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING RECOVERY?
Dr. Bazzi will thoroughly explain instructions for post-operative care of the treatment area and advise you of any complications to watch for. These instructions may include how to care for your incisions, medications to take orally or apply topically to reduce discomfort or aid the healing process and when to return for a follow-up appointment. You will also be informed of any restrictions you must abide by before returning to your normal professional and personal activities. It’s essential to follow these after-care instructions for the full duration of your recovery period.
WHAT RISKS ARE ASSOCIATED WITH BROW LIFT SURGERY?
All possible outcomes of brow lift surgery will be discussed with you prior to your procedure, including risks and potential complications. These risks include unfavorable scarring, infection, bleeding and the possibility of revisional surgery. You can minimize the risks associated with any surgical procedure by choosing a skilled and board-certified surgeon and by carefully following the advice and instructions of your surgeon both before and after your surgery.
