BUTTOCK LIFT
A smooth and lifted backside is seen as a youthful, attractive and highly desirable feature. However, with time, aging, pregnancy, weight fluctuations, genetics and other factors can cause poor tissue elasticity that results in dimpled skin and sagging of the buttocks. A buttock lift can address these concerns by tightening the underlying tissue that supports skin and fat in the gluteal area and removing excess skin. This improves the shape and tone of your buttocks, and may be combined with an augmentation procedure to enhance the volume, firmness and projection of your buttocks for complete gluteal enhancement.
WHO SHOULD CONSIDER BUTTOCK LIFT SURGERY?
Loose skin below the waistline and sagging buttocks can hinder your efforts to achieve a slimmer, more sculpted body through diet and exercise. It may be time to consider a buttock lift if:
You have a large amount of loose, hanging skin and extra fat on your buttocks
Your skin has lost elasticity due to extreme weight loss or aging
You are self-conscious about the appearance of your gluteal area
You are experiencing physical discomfort as a result of excess skin
You are unhappy with the way clothing fits your lower body
You are at or near your ideal weight
WHAT HAPPENS DURING BUTTOCK LIFT SURGERY?
Incisions for buttock lift surgery vary depending on the location and amount of skin to be removed, and whether it is combined with other procedures. Often, an incision is made at the top of the buttocks, horizontally from hip to hip. Extra skin and fat is removed. The remaining skin is then pulled taut to lift the buttocks and anchored in its new position with sutures. Your surgeon will determine what technique is appropriate for you based on your body shape, the quality of your skin, and the amount and location of excess skin you wish to have removed.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING RECOVERY?
When your procedure is complete, surgical drains may be placed to remove any fluid that accumulates. You may also be placed in a compression garment that helps minimize swelling and supports the tissues in the treatment area. Pain and swelling are normal during the initial part of the healing process. Your surgeon will give you detailed instructions regarding post-surgical care, including how to sit and sleep in order to reduce pain and minimize the tension on your incisions. Your surgeon will also discuss an appropriate timeframe for resuming your normal level of activity and work. It’s likely you will need two to three weeks of recovery before returning to work.
WHAT RESULTS CAN A BUTTOCK LIFT ACHIEVE?
By eliminating unsightly loose skin from your buttocks, a buttock lift can restore a more attractive contour after the loss of skin elasticity due to weight loss or age-related changes. The gluteal area will appear smoother and more toned after the procedure, with a more youthful and pleasing shape. Buttock lift results are typically long-lasting. As with many surgical procedures, aging, weight fluctuations and pregnancy will continue to affect the body and can alter the results of your buttock lift. Maintaining a healthy and stable weight is essential if you wish to enjoy your results for as long as possible.
